Sponsor Checklist

Your responsbilities:

  1. Pray for him/her
    - before you have ever approached him/her about attending Via de Cristo
    - daily until the start of the weekend.
    - throughout the weekend.
  2. Weekender preparation
    - help him/her understand their baptismal vows the Great Commission (Mt. 29:19-20).
    - help him/her understand responsibilities as a member of the Body of Christ
    - help him/her become aware of the special problems and possibilities of his/her environment
    - help him/her see the connection between Via de Cristo and Christian responsibility.
  3. Information has been given my weekender:
    - what to expect on the weekend
    - what to bring on the weekend
    - what not to bring on the weekend
  4. Arrange Transportation to and from the weekend for the weekender:
    - Depending on time and distance, plan on feeding your weekender on the way there and/or on the way back.
    - Make sure your weekender is comfortable and does not feel "rushed".
  5. Arrange for any special help your weekender may need such as
    - babysitter
    - house/pet sitter
    - mail/newspapers/pets
    - special duties they may have (carpools, volunteer services, etc)
    - other
  6. That you have special Palanca prepared for your weekender (prayers and sacrifices you are offering to God for him/her)
    - prayers, special intentions
    - a personal note
    - arrange for additional personal notes
    - other
  7. Candlelight Service
    - have you made arrangements to go?
    - if you are sponsoring a couple, make arrangements for the husband to be at the women's Candlelight.
  8. Clausura
    - have you made arrangements to be there?
    - if an emergency keeps you away, have you made arrangement for contact of your weekender (someone to represent you, a note, etc)
    - have you made arrangements to ride home with him/her?
  9. Did you make contact with your weekender the day after he/she returned?
  10. Group reunion
    - did you help your weekender to find a group reunion as soon as possible after he/she returned?
  11. Ultreyas
    - did you bring your weekender to the first Ultreya after his/her return?
  12. Are you continuing to pray for your weekender even after he/she has returned from the weekend?
