Before you become a sponsor, you.
- must have a home church, and attend renewal group and ultreyas regularly.
- should be prepared to stay in close contact with the new Fourth dayer for up to one year. Be sensitive to the length of time a Fourth dayer wants your support.
- will want to sponsor on a weekend you are NOT working so that you can be available to transport your weekender to and from the weekend, attend sponsor hour Thursday night, and be at the Candlelight and Clousra services.
- should ask the Lord for guidance and help to enable you to carry out your responsibilities as a sponsor.
You have a friend who would like to attend. You must...
- pick up Weekender and Sponsor application forms from the weekender's home church Parish Rep. Fill them out properly, and submit them following the procedures given by the Parish Rep. To avoid disappointment, never promise the weekender acceptance for a specific date--there is usually a waiting list, especailly for the Women's weekend.
- pay the Weekender Fee to the Parish Rep when you turn in the application forms. Please pay by check and make the check out to Wisconsin VDC . Check with the Parish Rep to get the current fee amount. The check will not be cashed until the Weekender has been accepted.
- take time to get better acquainted with the prospective weekender (especially if you are not well acquainted with that person). If you know there will be responsibilities or support you are not able to fulfill for your weekender, find a Co-Sponsor. Be sure the weekender gets acquainted with him/her.
Additional preparations...
- Explain that complete attendance is expected for the weekend (no leaving and returning).
- Explain start and end times of the weekend.
- Explain renewal groups and larger gatherings, but don't use terminology the weekender is not familiar with.
- Contact your Parish Rep person for additional information.
Additional info. that you MUST get
The Parish Rep will provide you with additional information on your responsibilities, what to tell your prospective weekender, etc. This document is only a partial list of your responsibilities and the information you need to provide to the weekender.
